Shiva Educational Society is a trusted name in the field of education in the state of Himachal Pradesh with a credible history of imparting knowledge of the society by means of a gamut of educational institutions.
The Society was formed with a novel objective of imparting education to the needy in the year 2006 and came up with Shiva College of Education at Ghumarwin, Distt. Bilaspur, H.P. in 2007 which was the first private College of Education in the district. Being affiliated to Himachal Pradesh University, Shimla and recognized by the National Council of Teachers’ Education (NCTE), New Delhi, the institution has grown up as a premier institution offering B.Ed. course with an annual intake of 200seats.
Following this, an engineering college was started in the name of Shiva Institute of Engineering and Technology in the year 2009 with a total intake of 240 students in five departments viz; Civil, Mechanical, Computer Science, Electronics & Communications and Electrical & Electronics affiliated to Himachal Pradesh Technical University, Hamirpur, Himachal Pradesh.
Later, during 2014-15 M.Tech course was started in Computer Science and Engineering signifying the management’s focus in developing this as a research centre. Shiva Polytechnic College was established in 2013 with an objective of catering to the demands of students across all strata of society thereby increasing the options for aspiring students.
The society established Shiva Institute of Pharmacy affiliated to HPTU, Hamirpur in the year 2015 thereby adding another dimension to its efforts of providing professional education with an annual intake capacity of 60 seats. Presently, this institution is offering B.Pharmacy, D.Pharmacy and B. Pharmacy Practice courses. Further, the institution has started M.Pharmacy programme with 10 seats each in Pharmaceutics and Pharmacognosy Streams.
Shiva International school affiliated to CBSE, New Delhi was established in the year 2015 at Ghumarwin, Distt. Bilaspur which has spread its swings up to plus one and plus two in Science, Commerce and Arts streams and has grown by leaps and bounds in terms of quality of education since then. Presently the school is imparting education to around 1200 students through state of the art facilities and a team of 70 resourceful teaching staff supported with dedicated non teaching staff.
The Society added another feather to its cap by establishing Shiva Ayurvedic Hospital with 60 beds in the year 2014 and came up with Shiva Ayurvedic Medical College in 2016 with an intake of 60 students.
In the year 2020, the society established Shiva College of veterinary Sciences offering a 2 year para veterinary (Veterinary Pharmacist ) Diploma course.
In the year 2022, the institution accomplished an astounding feat by becoming the first private Ayurvedic College in the state of Himachal Pradesh to start Post Graduation courses. The institution has obtained necessary permission from NCISM, New Delhi to start PG in Ayurveda Samhita and Siddhanta, Kriya Sharir and Rasa Shastra and Bhaishajya Kalpana with an intake capacity of 05 seats in each department.
a) Hostel
Campus provides comfortable hostel facilities separately with capacity of accommodating more than 200 boys and 400 girls.
b) Mentoring and counseling services
The counseling services are aimed at helping students to reach their highest academic and personal potential. This may involve helping with personal, learning and career concerns and promoting success and wellness among them. This college provides a confidential atmosphere in which students can explore any topic or situation and discuss any concerns they may have. Students are helped to work through their problems to develop self-awareness and to overcome problems. The student counseling services offers free and confidential counseling to students on individual or group basis. The college also conducts workshops and presentations on variety of psychological issues. Main task is to identify the students who need to be counseled, refer them to the counselor and monitor their improvement.
c) Sports & Gymnasium
Academic learning and sports are complementary of each other. Shiva Group is the place that shares the same belief and is equipped with sports facilities like basketball court, badminton court, cricket ground, football ground, table tennis, volley ball etc. Campus is also equipped with a full- fledged gymnasium for the students.
d) Banking
For the expediency and convenience of the students and hostellers, a 24 hour ATM of State Bank of India is available within college campus.
e) Health care Facility
Round the clock medical facility is available in the hospital along with ambulance facility.
f) Wi-Fi Campus
Campus is Wi-Fi enabled with connectivity speed up to 6mbps.
g) Cafeteria
Campus comprises of a cafeteria serving all the delicious meals from different cuisines like North Indian, South Indian, and Chinese etc., keeping the health quotient in mind.
h) Transport facility
Shiva group has an excellent transport facility for the students, faculty and staff with competitive fare. The institute buses are being operated from 4 different routes : Bilaspur, Baldwara (via Ghumarwin), Berthin , Dangar (via Ghumarwin). Buses are well equipped with all necessary safety measures for the convenience of the students and staff.
The transport facility remains available for any kind of emergency round the clock for hostelers free of cost.
i) Security
The college has adequate security arrangement for the internal security of the campus as well as in the hostels.
j) Library
The college has a well stocked library having more than 11,000 books with about 900 titles, latest books, periodicals, e-journals, audio, video and CD’s providing students with great learning atmosphere to bloom into a complete personality.
