Message
Having assumed the office of the Vice Chancellor of Atal Medical & Research University (AMRU), Himachal Pradesh, on
29 July 2026, I consider it a great honour and privilege to serve the people of the State through this premier institution dedicated to health sciences education.
At the outset, I express my sincere gratitude to the
Hon’ble Chief Minister of Himachal Pradesh
for reposing faith in me and entrusting me with this important responsibility. I also thank the Hon’ble Governor, the Government of Himachal Pradesh, and all those who have extended their support and good wishes.
Atal Medical & Research University has emerged as an important institution guiding medical, dental, nursing, AYUSH, pharmacy and allied health sciences education in the State. My endeavour will be to further strengthen the University’s role as a centre of academic excellence, innovation and quality.
A Health University should not be confined merely to conducting examinations and awarding degrees. While ensuring that examinations are conducted in a transparent, fair and timely manner shall remain our foremost responsibility, the University must also play a proactive role in improving the standards of health sciences education, promoting quality research, encouraging innovation, facilitating faculty development and supporting affiliated institutions in achieving academic excellence.
Quality education ultimately translates into quality patient care. Therefore, the University will work closely with all affiliated institutions to promote competency-based education, ethical medical practice, evidence-based healthcare and a culture of continuous learning so that our graduates are well-equipped to serve society with competence, compassion and professionalism.
Research and innovation will receive special attention. I firmly believe that meaningful research addressing the healthcare needs of Himachal Pradesh can significantly improve healthcare delivery and contribute to evidence-based policymaking. The University will strive to create an enabling environment that encourages faculty members and students to undertake high-quality research and interdisciplinary collaboration.
I warmly invite all Principals, faculty members, researchers, students and other stakeholders of our affiliated colleges to feel free to approach me with innovative ideas and constructive suggestions for improving the functioning of the University. Institutional excellence can only be achieved through collective wisdom, mutual trust and active participation. My office will always remain open to suggestions that contribute to the growth and development of the University.
I look forward to working together with all stakeholders in building Atal Medical & Research University into an institution recognised for academic excellence, research, innovation, transparency and its meaningful contribution to improving healthcare and patient care in Himachal Pradesh.
