Message from the Principal

It has been my great pleasure to be associated with Sh. Gian Chand Dharamvir Charitable Trust under whose auspices, Himachal Dental College, Sundernagar has carved a niche for itself in the field of dentistry. Having followed its growth ever since its inception in 1994, the institution has grown by leaps and bounds, horizontally as well as vertically, from being an undergraduate college to a premier post graduate institution in the state of Himachal Pradesh. This message is not ritualistic in nature nor do I believe in decorative words to clothe my message. I personally believe in plain talking. My message is, primarily, to the rainbow generation which is moving in a directionless trajectory, nonchalantly.
Himachal Dental College, Sundernagar is located on NH-21 in a small valley, far away from the din and drum of city traffic. The campus provides a suitable environment for academic pursuits. All the three hostels provide comfortable accommodation to the boarders. In the college, our foremost concern is to strive to be innovative and stimulating, and to provide the students with the opportunity for a rewarding educational experience.
Needless to say, dentistry is an exciting, versatile, challenging and rewarding career choice. As a student, whether at the undergraduate level or postgraduate level, your comprehensive educational experience will involve a blend of basic sciences, dental technology and clinical practice. The college boasts of excellent infrastructure and educational facilities with highly educated and dedicated teaching faculty, who are always more than willing to impart knowledge. You will have the opportunity to develop skills like critical analysis, reasoning and problem solving to help you either prepare for or develop further your professional future and your capacity for life-long learning.
You have to tickle every box and have to be mentally alert and be receptive to whatever is taught or put before you. Life is all about challenges and how you take it. If you wish to earn spurs in your life, you have to have surging sincerity and commitment of purpose. Distractions and diversions will always have a tantalising lure in life, but like a pilgrim you have to head towards your pilgrimage. In the words of poet Robert Frost, “We have miles to go before we sleep”, so we must not rest on our laurels but to continue to strive hard to fulfil our dreams.
As you visit and explore our site, my hope is that you take this opportunity to examine how the college of dental medicine has positioned itself to meet these exciting and demanding challenges of the future. Dear parents/guardians of both UG and PG students, I would love to meet you as and when you happen to be in or around the college to meet your wards. I would love to interact with you and value your feedback or suggestions to tone up the administration and build on that.
With the encouraging support of the managing committee, I wish the college comes up like a bellwether to the other dental colleges.
