Message from the Principal
Education has always been a cornerstone of society. The art and science of educating students has undergone tremendous changes over the years. However, the ultimate aim of an educationist is still to see their students achieve a level of excellence where they are not only knowledgeable and skillful, but also sensitive to the needs of others.
Nursing, according to me, is a unique profession which has a blend of cognitive, Psychomotor and affective domains. Nursing education empowers one to lift oneself from darkness to light.
I feel that education should not be confined only to books, but empower oneself to explore various avenues. The students who join the institute are young with creative minds and ideas of their own. Each of them have innate abilities and their own strengths. As a facilitator, mentor, educator it is our bound duty to tap their interest and to build and inculcate the right values amongst them. The focus of the institute is to develop the personality of the student and to prepare nurses with right knowledge, kind and proper attitude.

Sister Nivedita Govt. nursing College IGMC, Shimla was established in 2010 with admission of 60 B.Sc. Basic Nursing students, SNGNC was affiliated to HPU Shimla, Now it is affiliated with AMRU, Ner Chowk Mandi. This was first Nursing college in HP. In 2011 Post Basic B.Sc. nursing course was started with intake of 30 students & 2016 M.Sc. Course was stated with intake of 25 students.
Hostel Facilities
All the batches of graduates of this college are having the 100% job placement & are working in various reputed organizations of the country including AIIMS, Military Nursing services, fortis, Max & various super-speciality Hospitals.
